Multi-criteria analysis for evaluation of CO2 point sources as locations for Power-to-Gas plants with biological methanation in German

Research objective
We developed a multi-criteria methodology to evaluate CO₂ point sources for biological methanation based on industry-specific technical conditions and regional social factors. The methodology was applied to wastewater treatment plants, biogas plants, bioethanol plants, biomethane plants, landfills, and cement plants in Germany. We also assessed the methane production potential of the considered point sources at the NUTS 3 level.
